Apparently I am a snob for Bisquick pancakes. I have known this for sometime now but this past Saturday Tyler let me know just what kind of snob I am.
It all started at home, my dad loves Bisquick pancakes, nothing else...no Krustis, no made from scratch, nothing else but good ol' Bisquick. (he likes them undercooked, me not so much) Soo, this passed onto me. I LOVE Bisquick pancakes.!! Really I do.
A few years ago I had a job mowing lawns, the job started at 6:30am but every morning I would wake up early enough to make sure my pancakes were hot and ready for the drive to work. I really ate pancakes every morning for at least a year. I just really really love pancakes, you can eat a few or a lot.. They are just so dang tasty.
Yes, I have tried to love restaurant cakes, they don't use Bisquick... Wanted to like Krusties... sick... who would just add water?.. No don't do it.. All those years at girls camp I suffered with gross cakes... Bisquick.. you add milk, yummy -creamy soft delicious milk... The recipe asks for milk and egg.. I dont add egg.. This is where I get picky. When I was mowing lawns and making cakes every morning, I wasn't eating eggs. Therefore I never put eggs in my cakes.. Why wasn't I eating eggs you ask? My bf was a vegan.. got me on the train... You know who you are.. TYLER! So This was the ultimate recipe for the most fluffy, sweet tasting cakes you will ever have, Bisquick with no eggs.
Okay so back to story. One of my fav things is to eat breakfast in bed. Especially since having Lyla. Sooo the sweet husband that I have woke up early on Sat morning, went to the store and bought some Bisquick. Made me pancakes brought them into bed.. Well I took one bite and bam.. Not good cakes.. Why? He added eggs.. Ruined the whole thing..He had gone back to the kitchen to get himself a plate then headed back to the room where he could tell something was wrong by the look I had on my face. I could taste the egg. Bisquick just is not the same with eggs. I am a snob.
THis led to a long, drawn out conversation about pancakes. Tylers side, by following the recipe you get a great, smooth pour, the batter is not too thick or too runny. Perfect cakes every time. Plus you get a bit of protein. My side, not as fluffy... YOU can TASTE the egg.. Nasty... Ty doesnt believe I could taste the egg, he claims I heard him crack the egg. C'mon... I have a habit of adding just the right amount of milk every time, makes em thick and fluffy.. Man I LOVE PancakeS! ...Whew this is long.. Sooooo... to cut this long post short...life will be easier if no one but myself makes me pancakes.. I am a pancake snob.
DON'T even get me started on syrup...
