Wally-World and corporate america

I have been doing some research during the down time of work (which is usually around 75% of the time), and thought that I would provide some information regarding a moral ideology that I would like to post for my family (team gecko), and my immediate and extended families, and those who look at this blog regarding the often distasteful nature of the American system. The first link is regarding wal-mart, america's largest corporation, on a website dedicated to citing walmarts often faulty ideology. I would hope that everyone spends some time with their families doing research regarding one of the companies that is forever chaning the face of our world. In order to fully legitimized the decisions we make, we all have a personal obligation to understand the socio-economic influence, distrust, and often greedy nature of corporate businesses and their effects on local communities, culture. Don't simply watch the news, in fact don't even watch your television right now, do some research on the internet and google, wal-mart issues, nike lawsuits, corporate america, and truly try to understand their place in our world. Because it's not simply about finding the lowest prices, it's got to be about truly caring for our "global" economy, not just the greatness of the U.S. of A. And I hope this is coming across with the intent I wished it to have, nobody has the right (including myself) to make a conscious distinction between where and how individuals should or do spend their money, for that's the great thing about our country, however, the road I would like my family to follow is one that fully understands the results of our everday actions. Next, and last(for lengths sake) issue that I find incredibly important in our country is the overconsumption of meat products, mainly beef, chicken, and pork. This poses a dangerous one-way causal relationship, not only for ourselves as consumers, but also for the end product of overconsumption, which then dictates and apparently justifies(not really), the irresponsible use of our beatiful countries farmland. I would hope that most of you know and disrespect the excessive waste of agricultural land, which is used for the growth of corn and soy, simply to feed the mass quantities of (naturally herbivorous, but recently in america herbivocarnivorous) animals which need the land more than the people (makes sense, right), because we need sooooooo much meat yum yum. Do we? And this problem cannot be narrowed down to any blameworthy business or groups of businesses, however, American's having a meat based diet ideology is not the appropriate road on which to travel, no matter how wide it is. So to make my long, what could be my social-behavioral ecology dissertation short, by switching our consumption of meats to a few times a week, instead of a day, we are going to give such a relief to our farmland, our local, non-corporate farmers and will not stress out our pocket books for additional sized clothing and medical expenses and stuff. The only reason I am willing to put this post on our blog, is not to make anybody feel bad or question anybody's lifestyle, but lindsay and I love all of you who look at our blog and only want whats best for our families and friends, and our world. And I'm the youngest child in my family, whom has always filled the role of being a sometimes, painful thorn who has no discipline for believing everything he hears.

Please leave me some comments regarding this information, whether it is annoying to read, whether its interesting and helpful, or whether you just skim through it looking for pictures of maya. I hope the links on the right side have been checked out because they are wonderful but I am going to start leaving them as posts so their all up in your face, so you'll feel bad not looking at them and stuff. Its going to be a long one....

Headed down to the desert for the weekend, we happened to get our car back and thought we should make up for lost time.. We went down with William and Emily, the car was cram packed and of course we had to take Maya.. We ate like fat kids and walked the desert canyons.. We were on the hunt to see some ruins, turned out that we were in the wrong canyon the first day looking for ruins that didn't exist.. pretty funny right..? We totally redeemed ourselves when we figured out the next morning that we were totally off, Mule canyon ended up being awesome.. Its been a long crazy summer and this was the first time we had been down in the desert since,... ya know.. it felt good. The desert is a special place.. the colors are amazing and the cold nights refresh the spirit.. good times.. Plus we learned a lot about Will, jazz dancer?..

Because I love her..

I never knew how much my little heart could love a furry little animal... Maya is so stinking cute it drives me crazy...She is just like a giant stuffed animal.. who could resist her sweet, sensitive self?..Every morning she comes and cuddles in-between Ty and I and rolls over so we will scratch her belly and give her loves..She is a little lover and is so sweet to the little guys that I nanny. I think she smells like brown sugar.. she is my little girlfriend..She is pretty much chillen the most..

Rwanda...

About a month ago Ty and I went to a play called the Overwhelming. It was done by the Salt Lake Acting Company and was pretty much one of the best plays I have ever been to. The play was based on the genocide that happened in Rwanda in 1994. The story was super emotional as one could imagine being based on such an awful happening. I had tears in my eyes as the play ended and the narrator said,"Don't worry, you will all go home and forget any of this ever happened, back to your normal lives." Well, that's pretty much what happened. Many times in our lives we see movies, hear happenings on the radio, watch the news and hear stories about people that have struggles and wonder in what ways can I help. Just the other day I was listening to NPR and the headlines were about the Tutsi militia attacking the refugee camps in Congo. We heard about Rwanda and the genocide, the conflict has not ended.
Margo and Travis (the couple I nanny for) have for many years been a part of Heifer International. This is a organization that helps families achieve self-reliance through the gift of livestock. The idea is to donate and buy some sort of livestock, (cow, goat, sheep, bees) which prices range from 10$-150$. Families all over the world are involved,on the web page, heifer.org under passing the gift, there is a story of a woman who had survived the genocide in Rwanda and received a cow from Heifer. She then used to milk to make an income and then gave her first calf to a neighbor, passing the gift.... Anyhow, long blog short... I think it would be rather awesome to donate to this organization and help those in need. I have been thinking of people in Rwanda and the harships that the people have had to deal with. We think our lives are bad,... think again.... Look into this web page and see for yourself what this organization has to offer.. Ty and I will be donating....

HALLOWEEN, ooh spooky, ooh spooky, ooh spooky, get it?

This years halloween was especially tiresome, it took a long time to work out team sends costumes, but once they were completed they were ultra extra radically heady and stuff. Lindsay was looking hot as usual and we partied until 4 o'clock in the morning, which is not a common occurance for team gecko. We started the night off checking out the youngster's costumes, then we went to the woodshed to see the Puddle Mountain Ramblers, shred the ymca bluegrass style.

this was the halloween coloration of the sunrise outside our house, which gave us a creepy prediction of the eventful evening.

This was the scene for most of the week during the evenings and a few mornings preceding the holiday, all in all it wasn't that bad to put together thanks to will's painting abilities, he's so great with those big arms of his, they are useful for something.

ha, you didn't really think that maya wouldn't make it on the blog did you, if you did, then you shouldn't have done what you did becuase that's not how team gecko rolls at all. She's a beautiful butterfly and stuff.
